Great egret

Characteristics

The great egret is covered in white feathers and has a long neck and long legs. Its legs and feet are black. In the summer, the great egret has a black bill, as well as long ornamental feathers below its neck and back. In the winter, the bird lacks these ornamental feathers and has a yellow bill.

Birdwatching period: September-June

Distribution

The great egret appears around seashores, estuaries, marshes, sandbars, and other aquatic environments and is often around other egrets.
